Mumbai local train derailment disrupts Panvel-CSMT Harbour line services

The derailment of a local train on the Panvel-Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) route has disrupted the Harbour Line services. The incident occurred at 11.43am as the train was approaching CSMT station, one wheel of the coach derailed, according to Central Railway officials.
There were no reported injuries to passengers as a result of the derailment. However, the disruption has led to service interruptions along the Harbour line, affecting commuters travelling towards CSMT.
As a contingency measure, en route trains bound for CSMT will be brought upto Masjid station. Meanwhile, Harbour line services will continue operations from and to Vadala station until further notice.
There have been no repercussions on Mainline services, Central Railway said on X.
The officials are present at the site of the derailment to coordinate efforts to manage the aftermath and restore normalcy to the affected services.
“Due to some unavoidable circumstances Local train in Harbour line section are suspended between CSMT – Vadala Road,” the Mumbai division of Central Railway said in a post on X. “Passengers are permitted to travel via Mainline between CSMT and Kurla section in Up and Down Direction.”
Commuters frustrated with disruptions took to social media to complain about the delays.
“@Central_Railway continues it worst service on the first day of week. Running late by 45 minutes & harbour line people walking on tracks,” a user posted on X.
Another user wrote, “The longest I stood at one place in Mumbai is when local stopped before Wadala station for over 20 mins.”
